For private candidates - General

1.	Where can I get information on the GCE N(T) / N(A) / O / A-Level examination for private candidates? You can refer to the Information for private candidates on SEAB’s website.
2.	Can I request for a reschedule of my examination dates? Please take the examination as scheduled. We are unable to allow candidates to choose their examination dates due to the number of examination centres that are available and the limited capacity of each examination centre.
3.	Can I request to be posted to an examination centre of my choice? You are posted to an examination centre based on the postal address that you had provided when you registered for your examination. We regret that we are unable to allow candidates to choose their examination centres due to the small number of centres available and the limited capacity of each centre.
4.	Can I change my examination venue? The examination centre assigned to you is based on the postal code of the address which you have provided when you registered for the examination. We are unable to allow candidates to choose their examination centres due to the number of examination centres that are available and the limited capacity of each examination centre.
5.	Can I appeal to change my examination centre as it is too far from my home? You are advised to enter your postal address accurately when registering, as you are likely to be posted to an examination centre near your postal address. There will be no further changes of examination centres after the posting of candidates to the candidates is finalised. Candidates must take their examinations at the centres that they are posted to.
6.	Who can I approach for financial assistance on my exam fees as a private candidate? You may wish to approach the Social Service Office (SSO) nearest to your home or other community organisations to seek financial assistance. The list of SSOs and their contact details are available on the Ministry of Social and Family Development's website.
7.	Which are the schools that conduct lessons, especially lessons on science subjects, for private candidates? SEAB does not have a list of private or commercial schools conducting science lessons. Please visit the MOE website at https://www.moe.gov.sg/education/private-education/list-of-private-schools for the list of private schools.
8.	Does SEAB recommend a list of private schools for candidates to take courses? SEAB is unable to provide any advice or recommendation on private or commercial schools. Private candidates may wish to contact the private/ commercial schools directly to check on the subjects the schools are offering.
9.	Does SEAB provide information on recommended textbooks to private candidates? SEAB does not provide a list of recommended textbooks. Please visit the MOE website.
10.	What is the attire or dress code if I am taking the examinations as a private candidate? As a private candidate, you are not required to wear school uniform when you sit for your examination at an examination centre. However, you should wear appropriate attire when you turn up at the examination centre for the examination. Please avoid wearing shorts, singlets or slippers when you sit for your examination.
11.	Can SEAB advise on the subject(s) to register for Junior Colleges/ Polytechnics/ Universities admission? For the entry requirements to the Junior Colleges, please check with the Ministry of Education Customer Service Centre. For the entry requirements to the respective Polytechnics and Universities, please check with these institutions directly.
